Record snowfall hits North Texas

Never would I have thought this would be the case, but it happened.  The snow started sometime in the middle of the night last Thursday and didn’t stop for over 24 hours.  This is what it was like when we got up for school last Thursday …

Normally, this would have been accompanied by ice which would have coated the roadways.  This storm was PURE snow which made the roadways perfectly fine which in turn allowed for schools to stay open for the day.  So, mark this date in history … my children went to school in the snow, while it was STILL snowing, and CONTINUED to snow all day long!  I seriously doubt much learning was done this day.  By the time school was out at 3:45 pm, this is what it looked like …

Yes, I was the goofy mom that got to school early to capture the crazy kids on this amazing snow day!

The snow continued to come down and the kids were in heaven!  Thankfully we have some of our ski gear here (and not at the condo in Colorado) so we were a little prepared for the snow play that followed.  Rowdy crammed his feet into an old pair of boots and Petunia wore my snow boots (which fit but left me without!).  Once I got each child into their ski gloves they were off.

The neighborhood was buzzing with activity after school.  Snowball fights and snowman building contest started.  All while the snow continued to fall.

And then a friend busted out his “real” snow shovel from Michigan.  Let the snow fort building begin …

Of course no front yard of ours would be complete without a Kyle Busch snowman …

Then it was back to the fort building and fighting…

Finally, I had to put my foot down and call it a day, promising there would be plenty of time tomorrow to play!

That's so funny! Imagine how it would be to live here in Canada all winter where every day is a snow day! Enjoy!
