Two in One

Early this week was Open House at the kids’ school.  They spend lots of time working on “projects” to show off to their parents on this evening.  (Again, fun for the kids, bamboo under the fingernails for the parents!)  This year, Rowdy outdid himself.  He has cracked us up (as well as completely amazed us!).

The second grade glass made a book that was published (hardcover – fancy!) and we were given the option to buy it.  Normally, I wouldn’t have bought it.  Rowdy drovemecrazyuntilI did it insisted that we buy one this year.  I have to say, I’m so glad we did.  This year’s book was called “The Important class”. Each child had an entire page (well technically two – a drawing and then a written page) all to themselves telling what was important about them.  Rowdy’s important fact is that he loves NASCAR (shocker!).  Dad has the book with him at work so I’m unable to tell you word-for-word what he wrote but here is the picture he drew …

For clarification (mostly for my brother) the hand on the left is holding one of those number 1 fan foam fingers.  He is NOT giving you the finger.  The top of his shirt says “Kyle Busch”.  The bottom says “Joe Gibbs”.

As if that weren’t enough, Rowdy also wrote a fairy tale.  I know he has been working on this for a few weeks because he would give me little hints here and there.  Oh, it was fabulous!!!  For your reading enjoyment …

Kyle Busch the NASCAR king

by:  Rowdy

Once upon a time there was a boy named Kyle Busch.  He was a hobo near a race track.  He had two evil brothers.  One named Dale and one named Tony and a mean step dad.  Then one day a family adopted him.

His only problem was he could not race because he was always cleaning.

One day Kyle Busch and his family got NASCAR tickets to a race.  But Kyle had to stay home and clean.

When Kyle was taking the trash our poof!  Out came a fairy god car!  Kyle dropped the trash bag on the ground.  “Who in the world are you?” said Kyle.  “I’m your fairy god car” said the car.  Then the car honked at Kyle and he got a car, a suit and a helmet.  Then the car said “Get me a toy truck and a Lego man.”  Then Kyle ran inside, got the stuff and ran out.  “Here is the stuff” said Kyle.  Then the car honked again and the toy truck turned into a giant and the Lego man was the driver.  Then the car said “put your car in the truck and hop in”.  Then Kyle closed the window and drove off.

When Kyle got there there was a drawing for a NASCAR to race in at the race.  Then the mayor of the town said Kyle Busch!!!!!!!!  Then Kyle got in the car and drove off in his car.  One hour later Kyle won!

Two years later Kyle got married and now has two children in high school.

The End.

I’m starting to think that my son might have a future in writing children’s books (hehe!)
