Living my entire life in Texas, I have never had a White Christmas. There was the one time when Petunia was 18 months old that we had Christmas in Colorado at the condo and it snowed Christmas Day. Never a White Christmas for us while in Texas.
2009 is a different story! How exciting it was to hear that snow was scheduled for Christmas Eve. Of course it was 70 degrees on December 23rd so we figured it wouldn’t really stick but hey, that’s what you get in Texas.
The kids were scheduled to sing (Rowdy had a speaking part) in 3 of the 4 Christmas Eve services at church. They were totally pumped to see that it started snowing before they left …
Since the kids needed to be at church for the ENTIRE afternoon, Dad opted to take them and I stayed home to finish up the last minute details. While they were gone, I watched online …
I joined them for the 5pm service. Nana, Papa and Uncle C had planned on joining us for this service but the weather pushed them back a little later than planned. Papa dropped Nana off at the front door of the church (just in time) then he and Uncle C came on to the house to wait since they had their two dogs with them. It was nice that Nana was able to watch the kids in person.
My kids are typical Texas kids … they love, love, love the snow! We couldn’t keep them inside. They so desperately wanted to go outside and play in it…
As you can see from the last picture, the wind was blowing the snow around like crazy! It was sooo cold!
I was finally able to convince the kids that the snow would still be there the next morning. They finally got snuggled into their new PJs and we enjoyed some great family time before it was time to get nestled in bed.
Even the dogs got in on the action (well, the two big ones).
